Yesterday I attended my 8th game this season at Citi Field. Unfortunately the Mets blew a lead late and the St. Louis Cardinals ended up winning the game 12-7. Before the game, I was able to make my way through the parking lot and finally get some photos of the markings of the old base path at Shea Stadium. Below are a couple pics I snapped of the bases and a few pieces of NY Mets artwork.

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009One Last Tribute to Shea Stadium
Monday, February 16th, 2009I came across this great video on the History of Shea Stadium by Journal News Mets beat writer John Delcos. It’s amazing how many events and memories Shea has had over the years.
Original Source on YouTube can be found here.
On another note, the Mets will launch their online registration for purchasing tickets for Opening Day at Citi Field on Tuesday at 10 a.m. ET on Mets.com and LosMets.com. Click here for more info.
I normally avoid opening day as it’s normally too cold and too crowded but I think I’m going to try and go this year. I went to the last game at Shea, so I guess it’s only right I go to the opening of CitiField
Anyone else going?
Home Run Apple Is Back!
Friday, February 6th, 2009Below is video courtesy of SNY via MetsBlog.com of the new Homerun Apple being installed at CitiField.
Over the past year there has been a lot of debate amongst Mets fans as to whether or not the Homerun Apple should make the trip over to CitiField. There is even a Save The Apple Website for those who want to express their thoughts on keeping the Apple.
I for one am glad the Homerun Apple will be at CitiField. There isn’t much symbolism us Mets fans can take away from Shea Stadium to carry with us over CitiField and I think the Apple is something to hold onto. I have to admit, I am even more happy that the Mets have decided to install a brand new Homerun Apple. If the old Apple was installed, my opinion might be different…..
See original MetsBlog.com post here.

Shea Stadium – Final Baseball Game Ever
Monday, September 29th, 2008The last game ever at Shea Stadium was a bitter-sweet experience. The Mets not only lost the game, but were knocked out of post season play for the second consecutive season. There will be plenty of time for me to absolutely kill the Mets but now is not the time. I’m 32 years old and I’ve been going to Shea for as long as I can remember and as someone who loves the history of baseball, I was glad I was there. After the heart breaking loss, it was tough to stick around for the post game ceremony but I’m glad I did because it was great to see all the players that came back one last time.
I would say if there was one moment where I got goose bumps it was when Dwight Gooden and Darryl Strawberry were introduced and met behind second base and shook hands. Those two guys are two of the most celebrated players in Mets history. They both came up very young with alot of excitement, lead the Mets to the 1986 World Series Title and then both left New York as somewhat fallen heroes. It was good to see them both back as well as all the other all time great Mets. There isn’t much about Shea Stadium itself I will miss (after all it’s a complete dump). I’m looking forward to taking all my memories over to CitiField.
