The Stephen Strasburg Impact On Ticket Sales

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

As we all anxiously await Stephen Strasburg’s start against the Mets on Saturday, I thought it would be interesting to reach out to my buddies over at SeatGeek to get an idea of the impact on ticket prices for Nationals games since Strasburg was called up. Take a look at the chart below (click to expand). As you can see (and as I expected) prices for Strasburg starts are some of the highest you’ll find for Nationals games.

Max over at SeatGeek also says that “80% of the secondary market tickets bought for Strasburg’s start this Saturday were bought since Strasburg’s debut on June 8th.” I assume that means a good number of Mets fans will be making their way down to Washington this weekend for the game.

SeatGeek has some pretty good deals for upcoming Mets home games so if you are looking for tickets, check these out:

Links: Home Grown, Ejection, Volunteers and Megdal

Sunday, June 27th, 2010

Just wanted to share a few links I’m reading on this Sunday morning as I sip on my coffee and try to forget about yesterday’s USA World Cup loss.

  • Amazin Avenue: Sam Page writes about the Mets home grown talent.
  • I didn’t realize how many home grown players the Mets started Friday night until Twitter follower BOsaysEHTM pointed it out to me. Its good to see and as a fan I think I take a little bit more pride in the team when a good portion of the key players are home grown.
  • Mets Today: John Fitzgerald gives us a look at Wally Backmans first ejection as Brooklyn Cyclones Manager.
  • I guess Wally is picking up right where he left off in the Playing For Peanuts videos. Just as a reminder you can buy the 3-DVD Set for $24.99 + s/h. The 3-DVD set includes 10 episodes + Bonus Content and Deleted Scenes.
  • Mets Police: Shannon Shark displays some pictures of Mets volunteer work from Tuesday.
  • Last week I blogged the entire schedule of volunteer events. I was not able to make any of the events but it’s good to see someone else follow through and post some pics. Kudos to the Mets organization for their continued work in the community.
  • Megdal for GM: Check out two of the primaries on Monday.
  • I’m looking forward to reading fan reaction this week.
  • Lastly just a heads up that you can now subscribe to my New York Mets videos on iTunes by clicking here. Also, just as a reminder you can find me onTwitterFacebookTumblr and YouTube

    Around MLB June 21, 2010

    Monday, June 21st, 2010

    Top Stories:

  • Jamie Moyer: Last week Moyer became the oldest pitcher in Major League Baseball history to beat the Yankees. It’s amazing that this guy just keeps going out there year after year and still has the stuff to get batters out.
  • I always find it a bit comical when a pitcher takes one out the park. Not only did Bronson Arroyo pitch 7 innings and get the win over the Dodgers, he hit a home run in the process.
  • Speaking of home runs, how about Daniel Nava of the Boston Redsox. He hit a grand slam home run on the first MLB pitch he ever saw.
  • Streaks and Standings:

  • Wins: Texas Rangers have won 8 in a row and have a 3.5 game lead in the AL West.
  • Loss: Washington Nationals have lost 6 in a row and sit at the bottom of the NL East, 11 games back.
  • Standings: For a complete listing of all the MLB standings go here.
  • Series of The Week:

I’m looking forward to the Detroit Tigers vs Atlanta Braves (June 25-27). Two quality teams at the top of their divisions. Each game should be a good match-up.

    Extra’s:

Check out the Batting Stance Guy as he quizzes Evan Longoria about himself.

Update On Megdal For GM Campaign

    Monday, June 21st, 2010

Latest update from the Megdal For GM camp:

Howard Megdal recently challenged former Mets General Manager, Steve Phillips to a debate but apparently Phillips wants no part of this. I personally would love to se Steve Phillips respond and accept the challenge. If you feel the same, go here and urge Steve Phillips to change his mind.

Also, check out the newly released “Beyond Belief” ad from Howard Megdal.
