Mets: Top 5 First Half Surprises
July 8, 2012I asked this question on my Facebook and Twitter pages. Below are some of the responses:
Tony Iliakostas: David Wright, hands down. I knew he was going to bounce back after a rough 2011, but his performance has been unreal. He has maintained a level of consistency that I have never seen before!
Warren Sweatt: I’d say, the Mets in general. Did anyone think they would be anywheres near .500 at this time, no less, 7 games over?? This team does not have a lot of talent, but does have tons of heart!
Michael Prelock: Collins. Thought he was in over his head. Doing good work.
Mike Kotyk: Kirk Nieuwenhuis. I wasn’t expecting him until next year.
Aaron Golub: It has to be David Wright, not only cutting down his atrocious strikeout rate despite a 3 year downward trend, but getting to a place where he is striking out less than he ever has. And look at the results!
Aidan Bitterman @Abitterman29: Ruben Tejada! He’s having an absolutely outstanding season! He has such a bright future as a Mets future ss.
Stephanie Maria @stephaniemaria: Ike Davis hitting only .200 but still having 12 home runs and 43 RBI.
Rob C @RobC081090: Tejada for seamlessly slotting into being the everyday shortstop after being left to fill big shoes. Hairston home runs as well.
Evan Wynn @evwynn44: Almost universal contributions of all the homegrown talent. #mets #metshomeboys
