Q & A: Why Is Thole #1 Catcher?

Posted on by Kerel Cooper

In the video below I answer the following view question:

Peter Barrett: I know the Mets probably will not pick up Paulino’s option and all the talk is about bringing in a catcher to replace him and back up Thole. What has Thole done that has been so magnificent that he is automatically the number one catcher? It seems to me, good teams, winning teams, have quality catchers. Frequently I think people place an emphasis on the old adage “strong up the middle,” while they leave the catcher position out of the equation. To me, I would spend money on a catcher, as it seems there isn’t much in the system (no I am not a Nickeas fan) and take a gamble at second base with the guys we have. What do you think?

  1. The Mets are a fiasco right now. Not the biggest fan to say the least!
