2011 Player Review: Daniel Murphy

Posted on by Kerel Cooper

Daniel Murphy was having a pretty good year at the plate before he got injured. Watch the video below to hear my thoughts on Murphy’s 2011 season and what they Mets should do with him in 2012.

Ok I think that Murphy's bat is too good to get rid of or to keep on the bench. I say if Reyes leaves, which seems like more of a sure thing everyday, and Tejada moves to short, put Murphy at 2B and make sure he gets a lot of reps so he can get used to it there. His bat and leadership/chemistry are too valueable to ignore

Personally I think Murphy's defense will cost the team more than his bat will help. Ideally I'd like to see a combo of Reyes/Tejada BUT if Reyes leaves I'd like to see Tejada at one position and go outside the organization to fill the other.
