R. A. Dickey Is A Role Model
November 5, 2011My buddy Lenore Luca of Teen Groove On The Move recently launched the first edition of The Teen Groove On The Move Magazine. During the planning of the first edition she asked me to contribute and write a piece on an athlete I would consider to be a role model for teens. I immediately thought of R. A. Dickey. I got the chance to be a part of an interview with R. A. Dickey during the season and he is such an interesting person, beyond baseball. I think the best compliment one can ever give an athlete is that they are a really good player on the field BUT an even better person off the field and Dickey falls into that category. Hi, Kerel- Ray from Metphistopheles. I was just googling to see if there was a link to Jim Rome's interview with R.A. from earlier today, and I found a link to this post of yours there. I'll try to find and post a link to it; it's an amazing story of how much he has overcome in life, from abuse to injury to infidelity and with a few self-harming thoughts along the way. In this week of mourning and mystifying about the death of Junior Seau, it was so good to hear of his redemption and success.
