Taking The Field: Two Part Interview With Howard Megdal

Posted on by Kerel Cooper

I recently had a chance to chat with Howard Megdal about his latest book, Taking the Field: A Fan’s Quest to Run the Team He Loves. For those of you who may not know Howard here is some background info. straight from his book:

Howard Megdal is the editor and creator of the Perpetual Post. He writes for ESPN.com, MLBTradeRumors.com, New York Baseball Digest, and Capital New York, and he is the poet laureate of SB Nation New York. His work has also appeared in the New York Times and many other publications. He lives in Rockland County, New York, with his wife, daughter, and an organizational depth chart of the Mets on the wall. His Web site is www.howardmegdal.com.

In part I of my interview with Howard, we chat about the current state of the New York Mets compared to his expectations at the start the season, thoughts on the job Sandy Alderson has done so far, if the Mets are on the right track and more.

In part II of the interview with Howard, we dig into his latest book, Taking the Field: A Fan’s Quest to Run the Team He Loves. Watch as Howard summarizes the book, talks about his challenge to Steve Phillips for a debate and about the Mets blogosphere.

I want to thank Howard for taking the time to chat with me and be sure to pick up a copy of his book and follow him on twitter.
