Did you see him last night back up to field a ground ball and then from about 10 feet away try to flip it to 2b? Cost the team a double play right there.

Interesting points but I will agree to disagree with you on Daniel Murphy's defensive abilities. He was thrown out into left field (when he was a third baseman in the minor leagues) and I really don't count that as a possible place for him to play. Not everyone is made for the outfield and Murphy certainly is not an outfielder.
As for him playing second base, I believe that he has the ability to play the infield and will continue to develop as the season goes along. The throw to second base from Bay was not sharp and even if Murphy was at the base, I'm not sure the throw beats the runner, allowing Murphy to tag the runner for the out.
I really feel that this is a rebuilding situation and so the Mets have to allow for players (Murphy in this instance) to learn on the job.
Give him time and I think he will develop his glove and fielding skills at 2B and be a force in the field and at the plate.-

Yes I know he's a work in progress (as Keith H says so often on SNY..lol) but because of Minaya signing Castillo a few years ago (we were stuck with him at 2b) and Manual being the mediocre manager that he is, I guess we're now reaping the 'rewards' of the Minaya/Manual/Randolph years…..He's going to make mistakes but I think the good outweighs the bad.
