These are no brainer signings, you can never have enough left handed pitching, especially in this division. You have the Phillies which are all left handed as well as the Braves, who like the Phils are left handed dominant. Of course, if you never back any of these guys off the plate, and get them feeling a little less comfortable in the batters box, it does not make a difference, but they should sign Francis & Young. You can not count on Santana, and this way you have four shots to have two of them work out. In a previous post, you talk about Dillon Gee, and I like him, but I need to see more. This, to me is Pelphrey’s make or break year. It is time he stepped up and becomes (in baseball terms) a man. That is the one thing that would catapult the team into a border line playoff contender. Which is more than you can say about the team now.

You can never have enough left handed pitching. It might be more than they want to spend, but sign Francis & spend on Young, too…with the Phillies & Braves having so much left handed hitting, you can never have enough left handed pitching. I know Young is not left handed, but I am not sure they can have enough pitchers going into Spring Training. I know that there is hope for Dillon Gee, and I like him, but I am not sure that he is ready, would love to be wrong.

I'm a big fan in signing Chris Young. I think the fact that he's a control/fly ball pitcher would be a perfect fit for Citi Field. He can utilize the size of the park and defense to get a lot of outs. Obviously health will be key to his effectiveness. I hope your wrong about Gee too
