You think Parnell can be the teams closer one day?

I think this season will go a long way toward determining that. He's capable of some of that classic overpowering heat you like to see from a closer. If he gets and holds on to the 8th inning role this year, then I think he can.
My one concern is, that under Warthen, mets pitchers do seem to throw a hell of a lot of pitches. So I worry if he is the guy to mold someone for the closer role.-
I think some of that has to do with the last manager as well. Maybe Collins will have a different approach and won't allow pitchers to be run into the ground. Time will tell.

Parnell seemed to take to the 8th inning role rather well at the end of his season. I do think he'll need to work on his prep, in game approach, and recovery regimen so he can go back-to-back games with more consistent results.
The Daily News has Collins stating he expects Parnell to be the 8th inning guy. http://nydn.us/gFtIEC
As I remember, Parnell was doing a decent job out of the pen in 2009 , before he was thrown into a starter role with little preperation
