Quick Game Notes:

  • Final Score: Mets 4 – Marlins 5
  • Box Score: Click here for the complete box score.
  • Mets Record: 63-63
  • Key Moment In The Game: In my opinion the key moment was the bottom of the 9th inning when the Mets had the bases load with two outs and Jose Reyes at the plate. Down by one run, Reyes grounded out to end the game with the tying run on 3rd and the winning run on 2nd.
  • Game Ball: David Wright: 2-4 | 3 Runs | 1 RBI | 1 HR.
  • Additional Comments:
  • Pat Misch: 6 IP | 9 H | 3 ER | 4 SO.
  • Mets are now 37-23 at home this season.
  • Jose Reyes is having a tough series. Reyes is 0-10 this series.
  • Up Next: The New York Mets play the rubber game against the Florida Marlins: Thursday August 26, 2010 at 7:10 pm.

I thought Reyes was a little too aggressive in that final at-bat…you could tell that Nunez was rattled after DWright took him deep to make the score, 5-4, plus the solid hits by Frenchy and Thole, it seemed like the Marlins were pitching around Castillo to get to Reyes…at this stage of Reyes' career, he has to learn a little restraint at the plate in these late-game situations, you could tell that Nunez didn't have it tonight…Not sure is Pat Misch is the answer, Igarashi, again, was ineffective…Niese and the gang go for the series win on Thursday night

Side note, did you hear Ojeda after the game, he was pretty ticked off that the Mets were watching the Braves/Rockies game

Reyes was anxious. I think that may have a bit to do with the fact that he's 0-10 this series and really wanted to come through. Regarding the pitching. I did a video this morning where I talked about starting pitching should be the #1 priority over the winter. We still need a solid #2 guy in the rotation.
