Quick Game Notes:

  • Final Score: Mets 2 – Rockies 6
  • Box Score: Click here for the complete box score.
  • Mets Record: 56-57
  • Key Moment In The Game: In my opinion the key moment was the bottom of the 8th inning. The Mets were up 2-1 at the time but Hisanori Takahashi and Manny Acosta combined to give up 5 runs in the inning. The Rockies went up 6-2 and that’s how it ended.
  • Game Ball: Jon Niese: 7 IP | 5 H | 1 ER | 7 SO. Tough no decision for Niese once again.
  • Additional Comments:
  • Mets Offense: At one point tonight the Mets had a streak were they struck out 7 times in a row.
  • David Wright and Carlos Beltran combined for 0-8 | 5 SO (4 by Wright).
  • Angel Pagan accounted for the only 2 Mets runs by hitting a 2-run home run in the first inning.
  • Mets are now 34-20 at home this season.
  • Up Next: The New York Mets play the third game of the series against the Colorado Rockies: Thursday August 11, 2010 at 12:10 pm.

The fact that the Mets have not be able to win back-to-back games since late June speaks volumes…Offense has managed just seven hits and three runs in the first two games of this series against the Rockies, Wright and Beltran look awful at the plate, and guess what, the Phillies are in town this weekend w/ the possibility of Ollie Perez starting on Saturday…SOS

Agreed. Things have pretty much slipped away at this point. Management failed to do anything at the trade deadline to help out this team and the key position players are not performing up to their capabilities. It's really sickening to think that this team has not won back-to-back games in well over a month now. I'm going to try to keep sane by enjoying watching the young players play.
