Just How Good Was Johan Santana Last Night

Posted on by Kerel Cooper

After losing the first game of the series and staring at Roy Halladay (today) and Ubaldo Jimenez (Tuesday) in the next two games the Mets REALLY needed to win last night and Johan Santana delivered.

Take a look at some of his stats from last night (courtesy of ESPN.com):

  • Carried a no hitter into the bottom of the 6th inning before it was broken up by Placido Polanco with a single up the middle.
  • Only gave up 5 hits in 7.1 IP
  • 22/30 first pitch strikes
  • Out of 102 pitches, 68 were strikes.
  • and most importantly 0 ER.
  • You can watch all 6 of Santana’s strike-outs at Mets.com. Let’s hope that R.A. Dickey can go out there today and be just as good.
