  • Mets Record: 51-49
  • Key Moment In The Game: In my opinion the key moment was the bottom of the 4th inning when Jeff Francoeur hit a 3-run home run. That put the Mets up 4-1 at the time and seemed to waken up the bats. The Mets went on to score 4 more times to win 8-2.

  • Additional Comments:
  • Jonathan Niese: 6 IP | 7 H | 1 ER | 1 SO.
  • Mets are now 31-16 at home this season.
  • Before the game it was reported by Metsblog that Jason Bay has been sidelined with a concussion.
  • Mets Manager Jerry Manuel served a one game suspension for his outburst in last Friday’s game against the Dodgers.
  • Up Next: The New York Mets play the second game of this series at home against the St. Louis Cardinals: Wednesday July 28, 2010 at 7:10 pm.

Really nice job by the Mets defense gathering themselves in the 7th & 8th, only letting up one run, when so much worse could have easily happened

Yeah, they dodged a couple bullets late in this game. It's funny how baseball works. This offense has been dead for a few weeks now and facing arguably the best pitcher in the NL in Wainwright, the odds were not in the Mets favor but the offense found a way to get it done. Let's hope they can get on a roll now.
