Not What I Expect From The Mets Offense
Posted on July 18, 2010 by Kerel Cooper
In the three games since the All-Star break, the Mets offense has been pretty bad: 3 Games | 16 H | 4 R | 1 HR | 1-10 RISP.
In My Opinion….
The offense is to blame for at least two of the three loses since the break.
The offense seems to depend on Jose Reyes too much. This is a totally different team offensively when Reyes isn’t in the lineup and that’s not a good thing. I love Reyes just as much as the next Mets fan but this team has to find a way to generate runs when Reyes isn’t in there.
The Mets do not need to trade for a bat. With guys like Carlos Beltran, David Wright, Jason Bay, Ike Davis, Angel Pagan and Jose Reyes (when healthy) the Mets have plenty of punch in their lineup. These guys just need to wake up and start hitting, bottom line. I’ve said this before, when it comes to trades the Mets priority should be: 1) Starting Pitching 2) Bullpen 3) Bench, specifically a utility infielder that can play third base and first base.
I don’t agree with the idea that Carlos Beltran is killing the Mets team chemistry. Everyone knows that I’m not the biggest Carlos Beltran fan but he’s one of the few guys that has actually played well since the All-Star break: 4-12 | 1 R | 1 2B | 1 3B
The Mets are now in 3rd place in the NL East, so the bats better wake up quick or they could find themselves out of it in the few weeks. The best thing the Mets have going for them today is Johan Santana is on the mound.
