Quick Game Notes:

  • Final Score: Mets 3 – Reds 0
  • Box Score: Click here for the complete box score.
  • Mets Record: 47-37
  • Key Moment In The Game: In my opinion the key moment was the bottom of the 6th inning when Jason Bay hit a 2-run single. That put the Mets up 3-0 at the time and that was all the run support Johan Santana needed on his way to a complete game shutout.
  • Game Ball: Johan Santana: 9 IP | 3 H | 0 ER | 5 SO. Plus Santana hit his first career home run.
  • Additional Comments:
  • David Wright has now hit safely in 9 out of the last 10 games: 1-3 | 1 BB.
  • Jose Reyes returned to the lineup after sitting out six games in a row: 2-4 | 1 Run
  • With one out in the 9th and the tying run at the plate, Jerry Manuel comes out and it looks as though he’s going to take Santana out of the game but to my surprise he leaves him in. Gutsy move by Manuel because I have to be honest I would have pulled Santana.
  • Mets are now 29-13 at home this season.
  • Up Next: The Mets play the rubber match against the Cincinnati Reds: Wednesday July 7, 2010 at 7:10 pm.
