Quick Game Notes:

  • Final Score: Mets 9 – Nationals 5
  • Box Score: Click here for the complete box score.
  • Mets Record: 46-36
  • Key Moment In The Game: In my opinion the key moment was the first 4 innings of the game. The Mets offense took care of business early by scoring in each of the first 4 innings. By the time the Nationals came to bat in the bottom of the 4th inning they were down 8-0 which was too much for them to overcome.
  • Game Ball: Jason Bay: 2-5 | 4 RBI
  • Additional Comments:
  • Hisanori Takahashi: 5 IP | 5 H | 3 ER | 7 SO.
  • Francisco Rodriguez picked up his 20th save of the season.
  • David Wright continues to hit well: 2-5 | 2 Runs.
  • Angel Pagan had a good game at the plate: 3-5 | 2 RBI.
  • Jose Reyes sat out his fifth game in a row with a stiff back.
  • Mets are now 18-24 on the road this season.
  • Before the game it was announced that David Wright (starter) and Jose Reyes (reserve) made the 2010 National League All-Star team.

Mets didn't get their 46th win until gm 97 last year, have to be happy with that 15 gm improvement

Happy yes, but it could also be better. I heard Gary and Ron talk yesterday about how the Mets have lost 10 games this year via the walk-off. That's too much in my opinion. Cut that number in 1/2 and the Mets would have 51 wins and the best record in the NL.
