Quick Game Notes:

  • Final Score: Mets 0 – Twins 6
  • Box Score: Click here for the complete box score.
  • Mets Record: 42-32
  • Key Moment In The Game: In my opinion the key moment was the top of the 1st inning when the Twins scored 4 runs. Johan Santana just didn’t have it today and the Twins took advantage of their former teammate.
  • Game Ball: Jeff Francoeur: 2-3. Didn’t really want to give the game ball to Francoeur but no one else did anything.
  • Additional Comments:
  • Johan Santana’s line: 6 IP | 8 H | 5 ER | 4 SO
  • Mets Offense: Only 3 hits today.
  • Mets are now 27-12 at home this season.
  • Up Next: The Mets play the rubber match against the Minnesota Twins: Sunday June 27, 2010 at 1:10 pm.

Santana looked the worst he's ever looked today against his old mates…his mechanics were way off…also, his fastball wasn't much of a difference than his changeup, vs. Mauer, not sure why he kept on working him outside, that's where Mauer likes it…Ojeda did have a good point after the game when he said that Santana's slider was working, his strikeouts are way down and I don't think in this league you're going to fool hitters with a 90-mph fastball…Mets ace?

I actually think he looked worse against the Phillies. Against the Phillies he had a confused look on his face. Yes his velocity is down and he doesn't have a strike out pitch anymore but I'm wondering how much of a factor playing against batters who know him inside and out had to do with it (former teammates)? Not making excuses for Santana but just a thought.
