Jose Reyes and Angel Pagan Are A Nice 1-2 Punch
June 19, 2010I really like the combination Jose Reyes and Angel Pagan at the top of the Mets lineup. Jerry Manuel is going to have some interesting decisions to make if/when Luis Castillo and Carlos Beltran come back. Castillo normally bats second and well Carlos Beltran is the Mets starting Center Fielder. I just don’t see how you can break up Reyes and Pagan at this point. Below are the offensive stats for both players in their respective batting positions so far this season.
Jose Reyes – Batting Lead-off: 42 G | 185 AB | .303 Avg | 9 2b | 4 3b | 3 HR | 12 BB | 11 SB | 27 Runs
Angel Pagan - Batting Second: 13 G | 56 AB | .286 Avg | 5 2b | 1 3b | 0 HR | 5 BB | 4 SB | 8 Runs

LOL at your Beltran comment. Castillo is a tough one. Ideally I'd just let Tejada keep playing but I think we all know realistically that won't happen when Castillo comes back. I guess Castillo could bat 8th but I don't like that either.

I think there is no chance Castillo sees the 2 hole again. Frankly he is nowhere to be seen at all. Beltran to me is still like Santa and the Easter Bunny, something that supposedly brings treats once a year.
