Q & A: Should The Mets Trade For Cliff Lee
June 7, 2010In the video below I answer the following viewer question:
go57mets: With the Mets 2 or 3 games over .500 at this point, it seems they have the ability to contend for the NL East or Wild card. because of this, should the Mets go out and trade for Cliff Lee?

I don't know if I would give up two Major League Players in Maine and Martinez. I know Martinez is in the minors right now but he's right on the edge of being a big leaguer. I still think the Mets consider Martinez as part of their long term plans and he could be the Mets starting RF has early as next year.
Also Adam Moore, why would the Mets want another catcher? If I were the Mariners I'd ask the Mets for Mejia. And if I'm the Mets I tell the Mariners that we need to sign Lee long term before the deal goes through.

I think that the Mets need Cliff Lee! However at the right price, like you said. Lee already said he would like to pitch in a colder environment. I don't think the Mets have any serious teams to worry about if Lee has a say in it. And I don't think the Yankees will pursue him. But heres my pre-trade idea:
Mets Get:
P Cliff Lee
C Adam Moore
Mariners Get:
Mike Hessman
John Maine
Fernando Martinez
Tell me what you think? Giving up too much? Not enough for Mariners??
