Top Stories:

  • The biggest story of the week was the nearly perfect game by Detroit Tigers pitcher Armando Galarraga. Considering the circumstances umpire Jim Joyce made one of the worst calls every. Kudos to both Galarraga and Joyce for the way they handled the situation.
  • The second biggest story of the week had to be the retirement of Ken Griffey Jr. In my opinion Griffey Jr. was the greatest player of his era. Despite all the injuries he still had a Hall of Fame career. It’s scary to think what his career numbers would be if he was healthy the entire time.
  • College Baseball: Read about the SEC’s experiment to put baseball on the clock. Two words – “No Thanks!.
  • Streaks and Standings:

  • Wins: Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have won 5 in a row and are .5 games out of 1st place in the AL West.
  • Loss: Seattle Mariners have lost 3 in a row and sit in last place in the AL West, 8 games out.
  • Standings: For a complete listing of all the MLB standings go here.
  • Series of The Week:

I’m looking forward to the Philadelphia Phillies vs. Boston Red Sox (June 11-June 13, 2010). As the Mets continue to chance the Phillies (and Braves), I’m hoping the Red Sox can help us out a little and beat up on the Phillies.
