Mike Pelfrey: Numbers Headed In The Right Direction
June 5, 2010Mike Pelfrey has been a pleasant surprise this season. He’s 8-1 |2.39 ERA | 52 SO | 1.24 WHIP. With that said I decided to take a closer look at some of his career numbers. Below are some graphs courtesy of FANGRAPHS. As you can see all of the numbers are going in the right direction. I think we are watching a pitcher come of age right before our eye, and I have to admit it’s pretty fun and exciting to watch.

Good point on the splitter. I forgot thats a new pitch for him this year, right?

The increase in his strikeout rate shows everything. Pelf did not miss enough bats prior to this year. The splitter is beginning to change it all for him.
