Posted on by Kerel Cooper

The Mets lost another tough road game last night and so far this year have been bad on the road. Below is a break down comparing some of the home and road stats. I’ve highlighted in red the stats that I find most alarming on the road.

BA: .272 .225
Hits/Game: 8.7 7.8
Runs/Game: 4.7 3.8
SLG%: .419 .349
Home Runs: 20 18
Stolen Bases/Game: 1.1 .7

PITCHING:

Home Away
Games 28 21
Record 19-9 6-15
IP 251 190.1
Hits/Game 8 9.61
Strike Outs/Game 7.78 7.61
Walks/Game 4.57 4.09
WHIP 1.41 1.51
ERA 2.80 4.63

These stats were all pulled from and based on the New York Mets Team Stats page over at ESPN New York.

If they give up less hits and walks on the road, then how do they have a higher WHIP? Something's not right there.

Good catch and thanks for the observation. I went back and double-checked all the pitching stats and I had the Hits/Per Game (away) stat incorrect. I've now changed this from 7.8 to 9.61 Hits/Game on the road. I think I got it right now. Sorry about that and thanks again for catching this.
