Quick Game Notes:

  • Final Score: Mets 9 – Phillies 1
  • Box Score: Click here for the complete box score.
  • Mets Record: 14-9
  • Key Moment In The Game: In my opinion the key moment was the top of the 7th when the Mets scored 4 runs to go up 8-1 at the time. The key moment in the inning was an Angel Pagan two-run triple. When playing in Philadelphia you can never be sure if the game was out of reach so tack on runs are very important.
  • Game Ball: Jon Niese: 7 IP | 4 H | 1 ER | 1 BB | 7 SO
  • Additional Comments:
  • Mets have won 8 games in a row.
  • Rod Barajas had two home runs in the game. His second multiple home run game of the season.
  • The Mets had eight extra base hits in the game.
  • Defense: Both Jason Bay and Jeff Francoeur made outstanding catches in the 2nd inning. If those guys don’t make those two catches this could have been a much different game tonight.
  • Jeff Francoeur left the game after being hit by a pitch on the arm. The early reports are he is day-to-day.
  • Up Next: The Mets play the second game of this series against the Phillies: Saturday May 1, 2010 at 3:10pm.

    2. Tacking on is key in that Park, but I still think the moment that fans on both sides might be looking back at this weekend to from the rearviewmirror was Francoeur tossing his body into that ridiculous wall to rob Ibanez and keep Werth at first, again. Although Werth eventually scored, it broke apart a big inning brewing.
