Quick Game Notes:

  • Final Score: Mets 8 – Nationals 2
  • Box Score: Click here for the complete box score.
  • Mets Record: 2-2
  • Key Moment In The Game: In my opinion the key moment of the game was in the bottom of the 7th inning when Jeff Francoeur hit a two-run homerun, his second homerun of the game. At that point the Mets went up 6-2, put the game out of reach and never looked back.
  • Game Ball: Two game balls tonight. Jeff Francoeur and Rod Barajas both had two homeruns a piece.
  • Up Next: The Mets play their second game of this series against the Washington Nationals: Saturday April 10, 2010 at 1:10pm. Oliver Perez makes his first start of the season but more importantly Jose Reyes returns to the Mets lineup for the first time in almost a year.

    2. Definitely agree on the key moment to this game. One of the areas the Mets have struggled since the very successful 2006 season, tacking on late. Giving the manager ROPE with the bullpen. When you have to manage every game as if it is a playoff game, it is not going to work out.

Yup, they needed those additional runs for breathing room. It was nice to see the bats have some pop last night. Let's hope this is a sign of things to come and they can keep it going. I'm excited that Reyes is back today!
