Poll: Which Roster Cut Surprises You The Most
April 2, 2010According to various reports (you can see one of them here at Amazin Avenue) the Mets cut Nelson Figueroa, Chris Carter, Bobby Parnell, Kiko Calero, Elmer Dessens and Russ Adams. I’m having some good debate on Twitter about this with a number of Mets fans. Please take the poll below and let me know which move surprises you the most.

Keeping the pathetic Sean Green over Figueroa (or Misch) makes absolutely no sense. Carter instead of Tatis or Matthews doesn’t either, Matthews is a AA player at best and Carter is just plain better than Tatis.

Mets have a need for bullpen help now and I think that's why Mejia is here. I think he may eventually be the 8th inning guy.

Shame about Figgy. He pitched better than most others this spring. Mejia should be prepping to be a starter, like Parnell will be. Management has their heads up their asses, it seems. Sigh…

I think more and more the Mets are seeing Mejia as the 8th inning guy at least for this year. We will see how it pans out.

ridiculous, figgy over mejia put mejia in the minors and then maybe he can be our number 2 starter next yr. carter over catalanatto, frank cant hit anymore let carter battle jacobs and may the best man win in the platoon. adams over tejada, unless tejada is gonna start over cora, tejada should be playing everyday. quite honestly all these decisions they are making should cost someone their job. this is assinine. they all make no sense.

I agree about Figgy but I think sending Carter down was the right move. Let him play every day in the minors so he can continue to develop. I don't think he would play everyday on the big team.

All of the decisions make sense, but I would have sent Mejia to the minors to work on being a starter—which the Mets really need.
Carter had options, and he’ll be called up later, hopefully.
Nieve was younger, so Figgy was cut loose….
