What about Chris “The Animal” Carter?

I have to admit, I have not paid much attention to Carter this spring but after asking around tonight I understand he's tearing it up this spring. At the end of the day, I still think it will be Murphy starting the season at 1b. If I'm right let's see how long that last.

I'm still going to lean towards Mike Jacobs, if not Jacobs I don't see why Ike can't get the nod. If Ike Davis continues to hit in Spring Training as the lineups become closer to regular season lineups than he should start. You can always fall back to Murphy or Jacobs

I guess my concern with Davis is, if he does bad and then the Mets have to send him down, what will that do to his confidence level? I guess the team really needs to decide if he's ready or not.
