Do The Mets and Phillies Really Have A Rivalry

Posted on by Kerel Cooper

There has been a lot of talk about who the Mets fans should cheer for in the World Series (including on this blog). Some Mets fans have said that they are cheering for the Yankees because they can’t cheer for our most hated rival in the Phillies. That got me to thinking, do the Mets and Phillies really have a rivalry? In the video below I explore that question and more.

I don't see the rivalry between the Mets and the Phillies because the Phils just dominate us. Until the Mets play like they did in 2006 not only will there be no serious rivalry but they will be laughed at just like they were this year. Forget the World Series, lets move on to the off season and hopefully make some good decisions. then next year Lets bring back some respect to Queens. Lets hear it for New York

Ok well first thing I think we need is a corner outfielder. Obviously the two best are Holiday and Bay. Either one of them would be fitting for the Mets. Now Onto Pitching. Ollie Perez has shown us that he can be brilliant, if he could only be more consistent. Pelfrey as well has shown us that he can be a great sinker ball pitcher but he was a little inconsistent as well. I love Maine but he hasn't been able to stay healthy and then you have Niese who i think is really good but i think it is in his best interest to start the season in AAA. Lackey doesn't to me seem like he is an option with the money he will be asking for. It looks like a guy like Randy Wolf will be a solid number two for us. I am conflicted about first base. I think Murphy is capable of being a good first basemen but is he good enough. I want Prince Fielder. With him in the lineup we would be a real threat. The only problem is do we have the resources to get him and if we do what then, we would have to sign him to multiple years. I would be willing to put together a package of Murphy and say Nick Evans for Prince. I don't know if that would be enough but i think he is a weapon we could use. I am not willing to trade Parnell or F-Mart. Also we need some bullpen help! Another reliable Lefty please! Take some pressure off Pedro Feliciano. Castillo is coming off a great year so i would try to move him if i could. in return i would want either Orlando Hudson or maybe B J Upton who has played second base. Pagan has proven himself to me and he is my 4th outfielder. Molina behind the dish, Wright Reyes obviously, Frenchy in right and Beltran in center.

Lol Tim if we ever want to get Prince Fielder in here we are going to have to trade more than just Nick Evans and Daniel Murphy. To be honest with you I don't even think we are going to get Prince Fielder. I just don't think we have enough prospects to get him in New York. Oh and what in the hell are you thinking saying that Randy Wolf can be our number 2 starter?!?!?! That will be a disaster waiting to happen if it ever happens. Randy to me is more like a 4 or number 3 starters but not 2. What I think the Mets are going to do this off season is get a big time Left fielder and then sign a good number 2 starter and probably get a some what good first basemen and platoon him with Murphy. I know it sounds like it sucks and its not enough but hey that's what I think its going to happen this year in the off season.

You may be right Manny I just think with Prince we would have some real power and intimidation in our lineup. And Wolf had a pretty decent year, Why would you want to platoon someone with Murph, don't you think it is better to let him get his At bats. And if your gonna do that would you sign Delgado?

I don't see any situation in which the Mets should bring Delgado back. I think something can be said for the need to change the mind set in the club house and he seems to be the leader so I think he needs to go.
