Mets executive Dave Howard confronts Erin Arvedlund

Posted on by Kerel Cooper

In the video above, Mets executive Dave Howard confronts Erin Arvedlund, author of “Too Good to Be True” who predicts that the Wilpons will be forced to sell the Mets due to the money they have lost in the Madoff scandal.

My thoughts: While Dave Howard does an excellent job countering these accusations, I still have to ask the question, why would Erin Arvedlund make this stuff up? As I have discussed in the past, the Mets are giving signs that they are cutting costs and if they are, one would have to think the Madoff issues play a part in this.

I saw this last night. Interesting. Somehow, I don't quite believe Dave Howard since he can look at Citi Field with an unobstructed view when most of us can't (ok, a joke about him playing down the obstructions back in April, but after that, he lost all credibility to me). To be fair to him, who knows if HE knows how bad the situation is or isn't (meaning the Wilpons aren't telling everyone, just my original thought) – who knows. Time will tell.

I agree time will tell. Obviously Dave Howard is going to stick up for the Wilpons but again why would this author come out and just "make up" these things? One could argue that she is just trying to sell books but it's clear from their actions the Mets are trying to cut costs and the only reason I can think of as to why they are doing this is because of the Madoff scandal. We shall see..

Well it looks as though she was completely wrong on this. The Wilpons made 48million from Madoff

Well, looks like she was completely right. The Mets have been actively and publicly seeking investors. Dave Howard is a fool.

Bring back Dave Howard and Erin today and pick up the discussion where it left off! Laughable. This guy is a Major League jerk, paid to protect his interest. The fact of the matter is that the team is most definitely in part for sale and his bosses are scrambling with every ounce of energy to hang on to their ownership, at the expense of the Met fans who are desperate for a positive sign. Even if they are able to emerge from this mess, the future success of this team is a huge question. They are a second division club, more suited to Seattle or Milwaukee. These guys have owned the club for 30+ years with one WC and two appearances. Blind squirrel….Dave Howard should find another job, along with the Wilpons and give the Mets back to it's rightful owners, the fans. Call David Einhorn up and lets get going……
