Series Recap: Mets Swept By The Cards

Posted on by Kerel Cooper

The New York Mets were swept in St. Louis, dropping their record to 6-9 and they have lost 4 in a row. Below is a video recapping the series and a look ahead to this weekend.

Series Take-Aways:

  • Concerned About the Starting Pitching:¬†Johan Santana is the only sure thing in the Mets rotation at this point. If the Mets are going to seriously contend this year, someone else in that starter pitching staff is going to need to have a good season. At this point, I have no idea who that will be..
  • Met Offense:¬†This seems to be a reoccurring theme in my series recaps. I said it before the start of the season that I was most concerned about the offense. The offense is leaving too may men on base. The Mets are not going to get hot and go on a winning streak if this offense doesn’t turn around.

Who’s Hot and Who’s Not:

  • Who’s Hot? How about Carlos Beltran? Beltran is batting .404 and had 8 hits in the Cardinals series.
  • Who’s Not? How about David Wright? Only 6 RBI’s on the season and is not hitting with RISP.

Next Up For The Mets:

  • The Mets come home for three against the Washington Nationals. The goal this weekend is simple: Sweep Washington and end this loosing streak.
