New York Mets 2009 Team Predictions
April 5, 2009A couple weeks ago, I predicted that the Mets would win the Wild Card in my National League Predictions. With the official start of the 2009 baseball season right around the corner, here are some predictions on individual leaders and awards for the New York Mets:

HR: Carlos Beltran
Beltran was 3rd on the team last year with 27. Beltran has had a good spring, playing in the WBC and I just feel this is one of those 35+ homerun seasons for Beltran.
RBIs: David Wright
Wright is an RBI machine. He lead the team with 124 last season, with Reyes and Murphy batting in front of him, I don’t see why he can’t do it again.
Runs: Jose Reyes
As Jose Reyes goes, so does the Mets offense. If the Mets are going to have one of the top offenses in baseball Reyes has to be near the top in runs.
Avg: Jose Reyes
I’m going to make a bold prediction and say Reyes is going to bat .310 this year.
Wins: Johan Santana
If not for the bullpen, Santana could have had 20+ wins last year. With a revamped pen in 2009 look for Santana to win 20 and possibly a Cy Young.
ERA: Johan Santana
Along with 20 wins, Santana’s ERA will be under 3.00
Defensive Player: Carlos Beltran
Add another gold glove to the trophy case for the best all around center fielder in baseball.
Comeback Player: John Maine
Some may go with Luis Castillo here but I’m going to pick Maine to have a bounce back season.
Team MVP: Carlos Beltran
Something tells me Beltran is going to have a big year.

Good post. Agree with all of your selections but one, Comeback Player. Maine isn’t a bad choice, but I really think it’s going to be Ollie when all is said and done.
