Mets Game Recap: Mets 7 Cardinals 8

July 28th, 2010 by Kerel Cooper

First let me say that I was at tonight’s game along with a bunch of my fellow Mets bloggers. I’ll have more on this tomorrow but I left the game at the end of the 7th inning to begin my long trek back home in New Jersey. I got home just in time to see Albert Pujols single in the game winning run in the 13th inning.

    Quick Game Notes:

  • Final Score: Mets 7 – Cardinals 8
  • Box Score: Click here for the complete box score.
  • Mets Record: 51-50
  • Key Moment In The Game: In my opinion the key moment was the top the the 13th inning when Albert Pujols singled in the game winning run. The Mets battled back from a 6 run deficit to tie the game in the bottom of the 8th but the Cardinals eventually were able to pull out the win.
  • Game Ball: Angel Pagan: 2-5 | 2 RBI | 2 Run | 1 HR | 1 BB
  • Additional Comments:
  • Johan Santana: 5.2 IP | 13 H | 7 ER | 2 SO. Santana let up 6 runs in the 1st inning. This is the most runs he’s ever let up in his career in the first inning.
  • Carlos Beltran hit his first home run of the season: 2-5 | 1 RBI | 1 HR | 1 BB
  • Mets are now 31-17 at home this season.
  • Pedro Feliciano struggled tonight: 1.2 IP | 1 H | 1 ER | 2 BB
  • The Mets showed a lot of heart tonight fighting back after being down 6 runs but eventually fell short.

    Quick Game Notes:

  • Final Score: Mets 8 – Cardinals 2
  • Box Score: Click here for the complete box score.
  • Mets Record: 51-49
  • Key Moment In The Game: In my opinion the key moment was the bottom of the 4th inning when Jeff Francoeur hit a 3-run home run. That put the Mets up 4-1 at the time and seemed to waken up the bats. The Mets went on to score 4 more times to win 8-2.
  • Game Ball: Carlos Beltran: 2-3 | 1 RBI | 1 Run | 1 BB
  • Additional Comments:
  • Jonathan Niese: 6 IP | 7 H | 1 ER | 1 SO.

Q & A: Should The Mets Trade Carlos Beltran

July 26th, 2010 by Kerel Cooper

In the video below I answer the following viewer question:

I hate to sound like Mr. Negativity here, but I think that the Mets 1-6 record since the All-Star break is largely due to Carlos Beltran’s return to the Mets. Perhaps he messed up the vibrant team chemistry that has existed in the clubhouse prior to the All-Star break. In your opinion, do you think that the Mets should cut ties with Beltran and trade him for some much needed pitching help?
